For Amy Forever
“Never say goodbye, because saying goodbye means going away, and going away means forgetting”
1992 – 2015
Amy’s fear wasn’t her cancer, the pain, or even dying. Her biggest fear was being forgotten after she had gone.
She didn’t want to be defined and remembered as cancer, as that wasn’t how she lived. She wanted to be remembered for her, her personality, her smile, her humour, her strength.
She had become an inspiration to thousands, all over the world, particularly through the ice hockey community. There was a lot of support for Amy during her fight, including fundraising in her name, especially for Weston Park and the Teenage Cancer Unit, but she worried afterwards she would become a distant memory.
We are determined to never let that happen.
