Paul’s Fight

  Paul Wild was a hockey fan that saw Amy’s story and decided he also wanted to do his bit for the hospital in Amy’s name. He went out of his comfort zone and participated in a boxing match. He trained for just a few weeks and got in the ring! As bad luck would have it, on the day, Amy was stuck in Weston Park, so Dad and I went along to support Paul. My first time in a boxing ring – thankfully it was just to present Paul with his trophy after he won! He raised over an amazing £400 and even won an award on the night for the fighter who raised the most for charity! Amy was honoured.   We found out on February 12th 2015 that Amy’s tumours were too aggressive and no further treatment was available, the doctor’s aim was to keep Amy as comfortable as possible. When this news began to travel around the EIHL hockey community, the reaction was overwhelming. By the following weekends games, fans around the country were showing they were behind Amy by chanting her name in the 21st minute.     When it comes to the hockey family, I have to give a special mention to members of RTB, particularly Danny and Sue, and Richard and Kerry. ‘Star Patient’

    Following our fundraising efforts for Weston Park, Amy was named ‘Star Patient’ and given the honour of on the Christmas lights in 2014! She was joined by ‘Star Member of Staff’, Chris Firth and Dave Allen of Napoleons who supported the Christmas Star Appeal. Purpose Media

  In support of Amy and the fundraising for Weston Park, Sheffield Steelers sponsors Purpose Media generously offered to donate £10 for each Sheffield Steelers Ice Hockey home goal throughout the 2014/15 season and £50 for all shut outs.
