So the stage was set at Mark Testimonial Roast. 5 Speakers all roasting each other in the name of entertainment for the 250 strong audience.
Of course sat centre stage, guest of honour was the untouchable Princess Amy, armed with a bottle of wine and the sweet smile. On the night everyone was a target except Amy – she was out of reach – or so she thought. One of my jokes was aimed at Steeler player Gord Baldwin, but for it to be funny I had to set about and openly attack the princess to distract from the punch line aimed at Gord. I questioned her illness, mocked her drug taking and to the silence of the room set about her. The room was so quiet. It had been filled with laughter for two hours now you would have heard a open drop at 300 yards. Everyone sat in horror as I continued. I was by this time very nervous, this better end well I thought ……
Ryan Finnerty sat behind me “hope you know where this is going” I heard him snigger, Quickly turned, the punch line was delivered aimed at Roasting Gord – thank god it worked, the room erupted, maybe more in relief than in humour.  I looked at her and winked, she was bursting with laughter. At the end of the night she said “thanks for doing that, made me feel normal” That was a green light and from that day onwards she was the but of every joke going from lots of people. Her sister had to move to Australia once we started on her after Amy left us – chicken Beth

I was running down the corridor, I looked over my shouldered there was Amy 6 feet back her sister Beth right next to her. I was out of breath “You ok” I said “just run” she screamed back “Go” so I did then down 7 flights of steep stairs. “You Ok Amy” I said to this girl – a girl we had been told was diagnosed with a tumour in her neck, throat – hold on a minute this girl should be out of breath, on her knees. She is about to overtake me. Of course the reason she was on fine form was that Tim Spencer and the Sheffield Steelers were at the bottom of the stairs having just won their play off semi final fixture – Amy wanted to be with “her boys” on the ice and inside the room. She was after all their lucky charm – 24 hours later she was down those stairs once again to join the team on the ice as they lifted the play off championship. She was soaked in Champagne inside the locker room by the team post game – chauffeured back to the arena on the team bus – she did mix liquor and medication but who cares. Not done, she party’d the night away at the Captains house and arrived home past 5am – this girl was ill? Honestly?  The hangover was a good one – she then made her Mom drive to Nottingham to pick her car up whilst she slept on the back seat.  Typical, princess bloody Amy

When Amy first started seeing mark I was dating Harry his best friend and in order to get Amy to go on a proper date with him he had to promise that it would be a double date and that I would be there. We ended up going to the cinema to watch a very boyish film (I think it was transporter 3) and Amy desperately wanted to sit next to me but the boys wanted to sit together too and they won so throughout the whole film she kept leaning forward as if to check I was still there ? once the film finished we were ‘treated’ to McDonald’s but Amy wouldn’t order anything even though she’s told me in the car she was starving so I told mark to buy her a chicken nugget meal which he did. She just say staring at it while mark ate, occasionally when mark looked down at his food or his phone she’s shove a whole chicken nugget into her mouth and try to chew it as fast as she could! Then mark got up and went to the toilet and she demolished the rest of the meal so quick she had me in tears of laughter for a good twenty minutes!

I remember her coming into A level biology once and she was in a proper mood and when I asked her what was wrong… She’d run out of liquid eyeliner, she was like “don’t look at me, I can’t believe I’ve come to school with bald eyes” she wouldn’t believe me when I told her she looked fine! And she was forever obsessing with cocoa butter products and constantly moisturising her hands lol

My memories of Amy were talking to her when I was sad and upset she would end always calm me down and tell me I mattered in the world and I shouldn’t let anyone upset me, the last conversation I had with her was about going to Doncaster zoo and if busted ever got back together I’d take her with me to see them every night since she passed away I always light my candle and look out the window at the stars and think I hope princess Amy is alright up there I also remember sitting on my mums couch in our onesies too 🙂 rest in peace my beautiful cousin

I was thinking of all the truly fond memories I have of Amy and the times we shared together and it’s really difficult to pin point just one, but one that really helps me through hard days is when me and Amy were at your house revising for psychology and we were both getting really stressed and she said I know what will cheer us up ‘I will play the piano’!! She abruptly stood up and sang and played the piano to the whole of some where over the rainbow! She never ever failed to surprise me with her infectious amazing personality! Whenever I feel like it all gets a bit too much I can here her serenading me to somewhere over the rainbow and it makes me smile no end!
It seems like such an insignificant moment but it is one that really stays with me, and reminds me of her hilariously spontaneous personality that was impossible not to fall in love with!

This happened on the 3rd of February 2015. We’d been trying to organise a day to see each other outside of hockey and just getting chance to spend a bit of time together but something always came up and we had to cancel. I remember finishing work early so I could go and meet her. I text her as soon as I come out of work to see how she was feeling. she text back saying she wasn’t feeling to great and I told her that we could cancel but she said she was fine and didn’t want to cancel. we spent a few hours walking around Meadowhall, we had lunch in coals and just talked about hockey, boys, cats, favourite boybands and pretty much everything else. this is one of my most treasured memories. knowing how poorly she actually was but didn’t want to cancel just shows how much she cared about the people around her and how she always put others first.

One of my favourite memories of Amy was just going and having girly days at the cinema with her and my sister Carina. The irony is, I can’t even remember what film we were going to see now, because the adverts stole the show!
An advert for “The Book Of Life” came on, and it’s all about what happens to us once we pass, according to Mexican tradition. So one of the characters who had passed away and was in the land of the remembered, comes out with “it’s amazing up here, UNLIMITED TACOS”. Well, before we had chance to laugh, Amy just announced “If that’s what its like then take me now!!”

I already knew she was a brilliantly special girl with a great sense of humour, but she absolutely had me howling at that point. It was clear then that she was absolutely in control of what was happening, and how she reacted too it. Of course we went to see the film when it came out (me, Amy andCarina) and now every time I watch it all I can think is how much she loved it. I called her an idiot when she told me should was scared of going into the land of the forgotten, like we could ever let that happen. I still stand by that comment now.

I will never forget her love for churros that she so clearly displayed that day.

I look back at photos of me and Amy everyday and it amazes me how many amazing memories we managed to make in such a short period of time. Although we have known each other since year 7 and have always been good friends, we got especially close when she sadly had to leave university. It started off with cinema dates at least twice a week, I loved these cinema dates, we would always have a sing a long in the car on the way, normally to Mcfly or One Directions. One of my fondist cinema dates is when I didn’t pick Amy up this one particular time and we ended up wearing practically the same outfit, the same top which we didn’t know each other had, jeans, leather jacket, we both even had a black handbag, the only thing that differed was our shoes. We were so embarrased, a few friends that came with us that day found it hilarious. Although we were embarrased at the time, I am so glad this happened to us because I look back and it instantly puts a smile on my face and reminds me just how similar we were, which is why we got on so well, Amy got me like no one else ever has, she always had me crying with laughter and had a way of making me feel so special when it was her who was the special one.

Another memory that sticks is my 21st birthday, a girly weekend in Manchester. Beth and Angela couldn’t believe that Amy had agreed to this, which made me appreciate even more that she was coming and because she was it made this birthday more precious than I could ever have hoped. When I originally asked Amy to come she said “I want to but all your friends are so beautiful and I can’t even dye my hair”, because she was having chemotherapy at the time, so I replied with “Well I tell you what if you can’t dye your hair then I won’t dye mine” and I didn’t, I couldn’t believe how grateful Amy was. We were so happy when we could finally dye our hair again, we planned it and had it done on the same day. Back to the Manchester trip, I had been trying really hard and had lost a lot of weight and bought a red dress and  I knew I needed to get into. I got ready, and went into the toilet to put the dress on, I stepped out into the room which I was sharing with Amy and Nia and Amy said something I will never forget “Oh Emily you look beautiful, you look like the Special K advert!”

Hi Beth,
I know when we first met Amy was down at Rother Valley for one of the fun days that RTB had arranged she was a little unsure at first because she didn’t know anyone, but everyone that was there took Amy to their hearts from that day onwards.
The photos below just show how much Amy meant to us.  It was brilliant to see her face when Dan and me turned up for her birthday, the surprise look on her face was awesome.

When we presented Amy with the RTB hoody as well, she always said she wanted one when she saw ours and we made sure that she got one.

One of the memories I will never forget was after one of the games in Ice Sheffield when you were both about to leave and Amy turned round saw Danny and me and made you come back because she told you “I need to go and see Danny and Sue”.
The photos of the players with the Amy flag mean so much not just to us and RTB but I know how much they meant to Amy, you, Angela and Pat and also those guys out on the ice.  The way the guys looked after the flag and made sure it looked on the ice for the photo was awesome.
